No No No if you just read that it's wrong...

You need a site with hotlinking..so register with boomspeed (http://www.boomspeed.com) and add your files on there then post them on here.

Sorry for any inconvinience i just read it wrong thats all

New rule

You must link to your image and not hotlink it...thats it i think

so is this a desktop competition, meaning, we are judged on the style of our desktops, or is it a comp for the images on the desktop, ie, who made the coolest desktop??

the one and only ecsyle.

Style
Wallpaper
Graphics
Winamp Skin

Those are what i will judge on

I am going to bed now.

I am from the UK so i will be up at 8 to se whats going on
-
That also means you will have all night to win the competition.

so do we link to the images? i presume so.

okay, anybody caught putting their images inline will be shot, garroted and sent anthrax in the mail, not necessarily in that order....

i don't have time to make a new one right now so my entry is:

http://www.calumsmusic.netfirms.com/kde-xp.jpg (http://www.calumsmusic.netfirms.com/kde-xp.jpg)

i know it fails pitifully on all four counts, before anybody puts the boot in yet again today, but quite frankly, asking people to compete on a [winamp[/i] sking in the fuckmicrosoft.com forums is a bit off the scale...  :D
oh yes, and welcome to the board, phame.......

Did you watch that Moulin Rouge movie? I don't know about you but I just plain didn't get it. Eveyone raved about it. I suffered through half of it before I decided it wasn't going to get any better. What am I missing? Caddyshack, now *that's* a movie!   (http://smile.gif)

I love Moulin Rouge for the music, the characters, the story, and the filmmaking style. I can't resist the sight gags, graphics, the performances, it's all so great, IMHO.

But, it's a flick that you either love or hate.

As for trying to "get" it... please don't. Baz Luhrmann called the style "Comedy Of The Heart". It's absurd, pointless comedy based on sight gags and simple things like the sound effects and cinematography. In Moulin Rouge, the movie itself is a character. Don't try to get it, just sit back, relax, laugh, and enjoy.

Laugh? Maybe that was my problem. I didn't know it was supposed to be funny. I don't recall laughing once. You must be right on the love it or hate it bit. I would say I wasted $5 on a movie rental.  (http://smile.gif)

Post by: Calum on 25 November 2002, 14:21
i really enjoyed moulin rouge, but then we went to see it at the pictures. i am surprised it has been so successful actually, as things which are not easily classifiable often are not liked by many people, or are misclassified by the media and people's expectations are let down.

Well I can't say that I liked Moulin Rouge nor that I hated it. I would stand somewhere in the middle. The movie was absurd, almost paranoid, that's for sure but then again that was the whole point. In a few words Baz Luhrman tried to reproduce the Bohemian frenzy in early 20th century Paris. He managed to do that succesfully up to a point but then started being superfluous and a bit boring.

port 69 isnt a good port to be running a webserver. tftp uses that port and I cant get to it because of my proxy just like void main.

I can't use port 80, name a port that will work for you.
Title: Desktop Competition
Post by: voidmain on 26 November 2002, 21:51
What's wrong with port 6969? You can use anything really as long as it's anywhere from 1025 up to 65535 and it doesn't match a service entry in /etc/services. 6969 should pose no conflict and it's similar to your old port.
