If you're going to vote based on sex, why not vote for Microsoft, seeing that Steve Ballmer is so incredibly hot.  I'm sure you've seen him in those videos, strutting around in a wet shirt and shouting "Devlopers! Developers! Developers! Developers!  AGGgh!" How can that not turn you on?

Old school (pre Jobs) Apple, and Be were friendly to everyone ('cos they were pretty much the same people). Palm, before they forgot about innovation and started copying everyone else.

Old school Apple made some wierd decicions, but they didn't turn a blind eye to users. Their design and marketing decisions seemed as though they were a healthy combo of "good business sense" and "quality for the users". They had inexpensive Macs that were below the price of the cheapest PCs, but had comparable specs and features (Classic, Color Classic, Performa 500s), and they had high-end workstations that offered unique features (Quadra 840av, Power Mac 8600/9600), unique products that nobody else was brave enough to create (Newton, the eMate, and innumerable others). But they were stagnant in marketing. I think their products were best in the early 1990s, near the end of the 68k era and the beginning of the Power Macs. Now all Macs are really just the same computer in different shapes. There's no uniqueness to features... and they're all expensive as fuck.

New Apple under Jobs seems to be Hell-bent on this vision of his... whatever it may be. It's pretty vaporous if you ask me.

Im a Job's-ite

Even if he runs Apple into the ground, It's really his company, he made it, he loves it, it's his. And that's why I respect him.

Heh heh, if I had to vote for a major computer company based on sex I suppose it would be HP. That CEO is a real hottie for an older lady (probably my age).

[edit]Just looked up her age, she's too old for me. I suppose I could make a sacrifice if she gave me a decent allowance.[/edit]

MS. I grew up screwing around with 3.1, and since then using the OS has become second nature.

That and I have a hard time adjusting to Linux whenever I use it. Also, the penguin scares me. Lookit the hardened criminals that those things turn into.

Yeah, they have a hard time buying their way out of federal criminal cases like Microsoft does.

Kind of; it's more of a central authority, but I think that it is incorporated under U.S. laws (and possibly in other countries as well).  I've never really looked at that aspect, it might be interesting to see what the structure is.

i do not base my feelings on companies its a vetter idea to evaluate each indivdual product. As consumers our role is to compare and contrast but not on companies on a whole. if that were so then microsoft would already own us.

AMD used to be cool... until they joined Bill Gates' TCPA crap  :(

VIA C3 or IBM Cyrix is the best choice, if you want to go x86 now days...

All of them suck.

Apple's stuff (pcs) are too expensive and slow. Plus, Jobs killed the Newton, and Beezelbub must give him a special spot in Hell for that.

Sun? HAHAHAHAHA. Whatever. Scott McNealy is an ass, bitching about MS all the fucking time in conferences, etc. (MacUser3of5 is an ex-shareholder, and quite bitter  ;)  ).

Microsoft? No comment needed. Just another lame company, although they are the biggest lame company, so I guess they get a prize.

Redhat? Couldn't care. I guess not caring is better than spite, or something...

Suse/Ximian/IBM? See above.

AOL? *cough*slow as shit*cough*

AMD? Eh. See Redhat.

Lindows!?! Only a moron could actually like Lindows. May it burn in Hell.

Basically, all companies suck, and I have no warm feelings toward any of them whatsoever. Generally speaking though, Apple Sucks Less™

Apple needs to drop prices of their stuff. Sure, it's nice, and it *might* be worth more... but for the love of God, a 700MHz iBook with shitty 128MB of RAM and a puny 30GB drive for $1500? WTF?!?!

I love OS X, but not enough that I couldn't switch to Red Hat 8 or Lycoris if it came down to it.
