Title: damn slow

MS must have the worlds slowest disk formatting utility. I swear to god it took longer to format a 3 gig disk using MS than it took to format a 30 gig disk using linux. Today while bored I installed a trial version of Windows 2000 advanced server on a 3 gig hard drive I had laying around. I had no clue that the install took so long. I will admit that it was a few minutes shorter than my Mandrake Linux install, but I have the full 8 disc version of mandrake, while this trial version of windows 2000 was only 1 disc.

Windows 2000 Server is FRIGGIN SLOW! It took over 5 minutes to boot on my dual PIII 667 w/768 MB RAM and SCSI (10k RPM) Hard Drive. BTW: This was years ago when I actually used MS products.
 
I bought it from M$ directly, so I demanded that I get my money back because this was such a POS. They eventually gave in to my bitching    (http://smile.gif)
