Corbis Corp., a company owned by Bill Gates, is suing Amazon.com and partners for copyright infringement. Corbis archives news and celebrity photographs. Amazon has a wide variety of posters and photos for sale on its website.
Corbis claims to own the rights to most of the posters and photographs currently for sale on Amazon.com. Corbis are seeking damages of an as yet undetermined amount.
Amazon, in its defence, are claiming that the suit is ridiculous, and if Corbis had informed the company of the possible breach before filing suit, the allegedly offending items would have been removed.

Microsoft is trying to win back the money it paid to AOL I guess..

Yeah this is nuts. Who is going to buy a picture without knowing what it looks like?
-
That second story was a bit stingey. Corbis is mad that people are selling pictures through Amazon. It's not Amazon itslelf selling them. (though you wouldn't know that had you only read the socend story.)
And Amazon is using the DMCA in it's defense. And you guys always say it's such a bad thing. ;)

I hope Corbis loses and they are counter suid for, lets say, three billion $$
-
Corbis is suing because they own the rights to the images in the posters? well. I am sure that when the poster was made, the images were licensed and the case will be thrown out for sheer stupidity. If someone lets me use one of their images for a graphic, and then that grapic ends up on someone site for sale, that site can be sued? WTF?!!? i do not get it.
