if you support palladium, you must be a communist.
palladium basically calls for Microsoft to be not compatible with other Operating systems. it's sort of like the thing of 1 leader, 1 company to control it all.

Microsoft is more like a facist than a communist company. There is a difference. Microsoft isn't communist because it is goverened and developed by an elite few instead of by the people. (And I like it that way; most people are idiots and need microsoft's software to use a computer)

ya, microsoft isnt communist at all (real communism, that is). Communism is supposed to be about all the people as one community sharing the wealth and ehlping eachother. All contributing to the way the country runs. Linux is communist(not the government type of communist) but the communism that is the idea of a community together that shares and helps eachother.

Besides all these anti-capitalist, anti-intellectual property ideas that come out of the GNU project are a clear attempt to destroy the American way of doing things.
Just read the "GNU Manifesto" and you can rename it to the "Comminist Manifesto" and there would be little difference. Stallman basically calls for the end to all owership of intellectual property, and thinks closed source is "damaging to our country's civic spirit." Well capitalism doesn't work that way; it's about greed, not need. The desire for the dollar drives this economy; that's why it costs 18 bucks for a cd that cost fifty cents to manufacture. That's why we need the DMCA so people won't go ripping off Metallica and Warner Bros. It's all about profit. When everyone is greedy, everyone prospers. RMS says "Everyone should have free software," well you take this idea of "helping the less fortunate" to its logical conclusion and you end up embracing communism. I for one do not want to see this happening in our country. I like it how our country rewards rock stars and paula jones with millions of dollars but pays scientists and teachers shit for salary, er wait nevermind. The point is snoop dogg is entertaining and he deserves his gold chains and beotches. He also deserves your money, so go worship him on MTV and buy his cd's, peeps. Or he'll bust a cap in yo' ass, bitch!

XP, you do have a point about FreeDOS. However, you also don't see Dell's intentions. Microshit will not allow Dell to sell OS-less computers. And just think about all the technical support hassles that Dell would have to go through if it bundled Linux. What they are doing is packaging a rinky-dink OS (FreeDOS) that doesn't cost a dman thing, but still counts as an OS. They know that people will purchase a FreeDOS machine, throw the FreeDOS CD away, and install Linux. Everyone ends up happy. Dell doesn't have to provide Tech Support. Linux users get what they want. The only loser here is Microsoft, because Dell found a loophole in their agreement. And there isn't a damn thing M$ can do about it, since if they tightened up their agreement further, it would get the DoJ back on them.

linux is not a political standpoint, a state of being, a philosophical standpoint, or any other of the things it is often fun to profess it to be.
linux is an operating system, no more, no less.
linux looks like more than that in contrast to:
windows has become more than an os. windows has become a symbol for a much larger and serious underlying problem. microsoft seeks market domination... rather further domination... and that stifles creativity, inflates prices, eliminates free competition (part of the american dream), and -as we have all seen- degrades quality production.

On to politics. Billy G says that if your against M$ then you hate capitalism, open source is un-American and all that hoop-blah. This could be no farther from the truth. I think that anyone who supports M$ hates capitalism. One of the driving forces behind capitalism is competition. Comapnys will compete to make the best product to sell. This pushes out superior products and also drives the cost down, as the companys are also trying to sell them at the lowest price possible. When a monopoly comes into play, all benefits to capatalism are flshed down the toilet. Innovation slows, and prices skyrocket. This is exactly what is happening in the software industry today, and its all M$'s fault. Also what we see is that products are not being made in ways that the consumers want, but how the monopolist, and its partners want. As for 20 dollar CDs? It is not the result of a monopoly, but collusion. When several large companys agree to stop competeing with eachother for mutual benefit, the same problems arise.
So the way I see it, if you truely love capatilism then you probably hate Microsoft. So both socalists and capitalists fundamentally are against M$. The only political group that M$ could possibly benefit would be the fascists. XP Loser, you along with BillGates, Pigasaurus Rosen, and other pro M$ jerks, are fascists. And M$ is certainly very un-American (though admittedly it seems USA is becomming more and more fascist every day with DCMA and such laws being passed).
