Title: Sharing a connection device name
Post by: shuiend on 6 July 2003, 21:21
In my room i have wireless internet. I right now only have wireless NIC card so only on pc has internet. I do not like that fact. I am planning on getting a Wireless bridge (http://linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=432&grid=) to put in my room. I was wondering what type of device would let me plug into it to plit the connection? I think it is a hub but i am not sure. I have had problems with hubs and still passing on my internet in the past.

a splitter? you can find a cheap passive splitter at radioshack probably. non-powered, basically a phone line switch for cat5. i'd get a switch though, with a hub you'll get slowdown if a lot of traffic is on your network. a switch is active and determines the destination instead of sending it everywhere.
