Title: Need advice on a wireless 802.11g router

I am looking at buying a wireless router and I just got the linksys for my dad but I am pretty dissapointed in the range.  It is setup maybe 50 ft. max but I was getting a really weak signal.  From what I hear that router doesn't have the best range.  I was also looking around on the net and found this one: http://www.etw.com/ProductInfo.asp?v=F8&idProduct=12927265 (http://www.etw.com/ProductInfo.asp?v=F8&idProduct=12927265)

Which routers would you recommend?  As a side note I would like to get one that has the ability to add my own antenna.  Thanks.

i havent had a problem with the linksys range, but the barriers in your house could be different!

SpeedStream(Siemens)has great routing equipment

does your house have any steel structure? Is it an older house with poorly shielded wiring? what brand of receiver are you using, on what computer?

there's many different things that can have an effect on wireless performance. I was using one of the MS (yeah, yeah, boo, hiss. it was free) USB adaptors and an Apple Airport card on my iBook 600, and I was able to go all the way outside, to the other end of the apartment building. they both also receive a dude's wireless connection from a neighboring building, who's using a linksys router (I know because the network's name is "linksys")

it can be really funky at times

Hi Hnugz,

You may find this to be useful as far as general wireless networking goes in Linux... then again you might not. Have a read anyway.
