Title: Open office forum hacked
Post by: Aloone_Jonez on 14 March 2005, 01:06
Some fuck has hacked the openoffice forum.

Instead of the main index you get:
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/index.phtml

An here's a shitty screen shot:

this is why you update your phpbb forum

also it looks like some script kiddie just redirected it.

http://www.oooforum.org/forum/memberlist.phtml (http://www.oooforum.org/forum/memberlist.phtml)
still works. Only index doesn't work.

also that screenshot is the worst quality screen I ever seen... :thumbdwn:

Why not raise the file size limit on attachments to something more reasonable?

The forum was actually hacked, not just redirected, this could be the work of Microsoft or a MS supporter. Who else would have a reason to do this?

Hi all,

As some of you may have witnessed, the forum was partially defaced yesterday evening (PST). After an initial assessment of the damage, it does not appear that the server itself was compromised. It can be confirmed however that the OOoForum administrator account was compromised and that the attacker inserted defacing code into the forum database.

Although a full analysis of the breach has not been completed yet, most of the signs indicate that the attacker used a vulnerability in phpbb to gain administrator access to the site. As soon as I have more details, I will pass them on.

In the meantime, the forum software has been updated to a newer version and a backup copy of the database restored.

Regards,
Ed

That's what will happen when you don't update your forum software...

Crackers rarely seek justification in what they do, they just do it for fun.

It could have been a koffice coder with that thinking, it could have been Dubya.

I blame John Howard, prime minister of australia.

It's not.  I've gotten larger images to work.  PNG, however, DID seem limited to 19k.

PNG at a 19k limit is about as useful as Windows ME.
