Why complain about him?  He's at least interesting.  Stop being anal.

Well, you can still reach microsuck.com with an ip address or another hostname, as the httpd doesn't seem to have any vhost configuration (or microsuck is the default one).

Firewalling the host ip would be such a better solution... assuming you really want to go away, and aren't just in need of a hug. Are you acting like this because of me? It's ok, kintaro, I loved your "Windows Hitler" post. It was so good I was tempted to write a short story about clueless linux users getting dragged to gas chambers. :)

*hug*, and come back!

I'd really feel down if Kintaro left.
My PM was just meant as a small warning, not an actual threat or something.

Well, from the way he was behaving on the hitler thread, I figured he felt threatened and was on defensive. Most likely he interpreted your warning as an offensive action as well and is taking distance to let things cool down. I just hope he doesn't interpret my earlier message to be an insult, it's a little tough to say because I don't really know him. My initial guess would be that this place is a "safe haven" for him and I'm invading the forums and nobody's supporting him when he tries to defend place. The threat to leave is a concrete call for support, despite the drama it creates. It kind of makes me feel guilty for breaking the peace here, too.

I can only assure you that I'm not here to try to convert you, but to shine light on disinformation. You could see it as an oppoturnity rather that threat, to solidify your own anti-microsoft stance by focusing on what's true and not running a FUD engine of your own. I have taken quite a focused pro-windows attitude here to keep the discussion on subject, I could tell you about my linux use but it'd be too easy to turn it against my claims for Windows superiority, even though my OS habits are a completely subjective thing and have little to do with Windows itself. I'd like to keep it this way as well, at least for now, even if it makes my views "predictable" or "repetitive". At least I'll try to give a basis for my views, and I'll try to keep that a little less repetitive where possible.

I think kintaro has been acting just OK. Even though the hitler thread attacked me in person instead of my opinions, I don't mind. I'm not offended by it. There was much truth to it, as I'm purposedly taking a stance here in everything I say. In a way, this is "enemy territory" so I think my approach to conversation has been just fine. What comes to my actual argument strategy, I don't think I'm doing it quite as extreme as kintaro sees it. I can see how "requires skill to use" implies arrogance, and how it makes it look like I'm comparing a super configured windows to a default linux, but I feel these are only a direct result from the fact that it's possible to distribute your own linux configuration, but not your own windows configuration. There are some projects out there to autoconfigure windows installations but they're not very generic yet and only support one built-in profile.

Blah blah. Such a long post, while all I really wanted to say is that I think kintaro is OK.

not only do i not believe he was attempting a personal attack by mentioning hitler, i also do not believe he has broken any forum rules.

neither do i believe he deserves any complaints, let alone any disciplinary action.

i think kintaro behaves a lot better than some of the posters on this board (although i do think since the three months' worth of downtime, we've4 had a better class of poster on here)

kintaro, isn't it obvious who complained about you?

Why don't you just discus it with the people who complained?

Okay, I am a drama queen.

If I am going to say anyone in that thread acted like it was, it was muzzy, even nazi's have a sense of humor.

Most of it was a fucking joke, gawd.

And I get threatened to loose mod privs for that.

You may have thought it was a joke, but you took it too far.

Remember, Jimmy James, was just joking with the "Dear Solaris, STFU. Sincerly, The Internet" thread, and with Captain Fucking Kirk.

But we still binned the threads, because they were still personal attacks.  I don't see why this is any different.

A joke? Damnit, but it was so accurate, too. In the meanwhile, I've sent death squads to capture some Gentoo users to be sent to death camps. I know nobody will defend them, because nobody wants to associate with gentoo users (http://www.funroll-loops.org/). And if some people start chanting the "first they came for gentoo users, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't a gentoo user" crap, I'll gas them!

Looking back, it was funny! :D

kintaro,
If you mean something as a joke then why not just stick a few  :D  :D  :D  faces on the end to avoid any confusion.
