Title: Hilarious Longhorn thread

I just had to laugh when i saw the excitment in "dotnetjunkies'" post.

Anyway... I always try to keep an open mind in OS development, and even with my distain for MS/Windows; Is Longhorn beta free for me to download/install?

Somewhere I've heard that it was a public beta, so I would assume it would be available to me if i wanted to install / test it.

I feel the need to justify myself on this site: I use linux because I test many different Operating Systems, and it the easiest/fastest/most stable operating system I have used, and one that remains both free and Free. I'm trying to compare all the new operating systmes (Novell Desktop Linux 10 when it is available, Fedora Core 3/4, Ubuntu 5.04, Solaris 10, OpenSolaris when it comes out, FreeBSD 5.3 as soon as I get it installed, OSX 10.4 Tiger when i order by Pbook, and Win2k/WinXP. To this point, I hate all the windows releases, but I want to continue to have an 'open' mind. I feel pretty sure about myself that Longhorn will not be up-to-par.

With that in mind, I do not support software piracy and will only test Longhorn if it is free to me.

Solaris 10 is great, as for FreeBSD 5.3 release, thats my primary desktop OS, and its excellent, no problems whatsoever. I have heard that 5.4 stable runs great with no problems if ya wanna try that instead, but I havent tried it yet. I absolutly LOVE 5.3!

I'm running FreebSD 5.4 stable with KDE 3.4. Things are running great. I was running 5.3 Release but it had a problem with my usb thumb drive that was only fixed in 5-Stable, so I moved up.

software piracy

I like to stay legal

anyway... Assuming you have ran multiple modern operating systems, is there anything of worth in Longhorn? I have heard much more bad than good, even on the pro-MS sites (i read past the BS)
