Title: imac g5
Post by: choasforages on 13 June 2005, 07:55
teehee....i have an imac g5 1.8 ghz, 17 inch, its one of the older models, but it has a superdrive. now im just trying to figure out what the hell i should do with it. im thinking, i should put netbsd on my x86 machine, and use it as an nfs server, and add a few gb of networked storage space. im also thinking, that i should put 2gb of ram in this beast.

netatalk would be cool alongside Bonjour (formally rendezvous).  See this (http://merkdot.org/?p=94) article.

i used netatalk between my 9500 and my old x86 box, it got on my nerves for creating a bunch of useless files serverside. if i get another fileserve i might set it up. lol, it already has a name...choasnetgui

The more RAM you give your Mac, the better. It would be nice to have at least 512MB, but with 2GB and if you have Tiger, it will just be amazing.

Where to go from there? I heard Unreal Tournament (http://www.macsoftgames.com/products/ut2k4/MacSoft-UT2K4.html) is cool....
