For my needs, Linux is every bit as good as XP, and I find the extensive shell scripting to be quite handy (if somewhat cumbersome) at times.

Strictly out of curiosity, why are you concerned with the DMCA if you're running Firefox on Linux, or even Windows for that matter?  Read the bill some time, a majority of people that oppose it don't even do that.  Just because a bunch of congressmen want to subjugate humanity through willing misinterpretation of its provisions, that doesn't mean YOU have to play along.  Know what it says, and you'll have all the information you need to defend your civil liberties.  ;)

I don't see what your letter will achive apart from making them think you're a spotty freak who's tired of masturbation.

About the poll, I wouldn't choose any of the above I'd say Linux is as good as Windows but it will never have a significant share in the desktop market due to lack of industry suppost and the industry won't support it because of the lack of users.

I forgot to mention... I told 'em about my favorite P2P app not running on Windows because of DRM... I sad thats why I use Linux!

I find this poll flawed; it assumes that windows XP is a good platform.

I have never found that windows is a 'good' environment, and the best option you put for linux is comparing it to XP...

Other than that, i'm sure MS drew deep insights from your email. I know you caused much debate in their mind during the second and a half it took for them to delete it. :-D

I really think KDE is better then Windows XP. Windows does blow. I deleted it from my HD! How would you think that I, mwa, would think windows is great? It sucks. I love linux.

Anyways, Linux sucks IF CONFIGURED WRONG!!! (Like Debian)

BTW, good choice

Does the DRM protection in Windows XP get enabled because of the hardware or the operating system at first?

That's funney OpenOffice must be even more bloated then as it requires 64MB of RAM which isn't that much these days anyway. :D

MrX won't run OpenOffice as it doesn't support BeOS, he uses Abi Word, please correct me if I'm wrong Mr X.

when i need to type in a typing program i use StyledEdit because when I right click I get an option to make a new StyledEdit Document and I fair quite well with that. And if I need to type 'properly' I use open office on windows 98 which is the computer attached to the canon i320 printer. internet explorer and all the other shit is clean off of that win98. that is the one i use opera on also

Minesweeper Consultant, Solitare Expert.

Given the choice of either charging 90% of home users for functionality that they will NEVER use, or charging only the people who will use it for it by offering it in a more expensive version.

I'll take the sacond choice.

Why don't I believe this? Next time you want to destroy a Windows laptop, instead just do a system restore to wipe your crap off its hard drive and donate it to a local school or something. Or send it to me and I'll pay the cost of shipping.

If you love something, let it go. All the more reason to smash something rather than donate it to a good cause.
