I know that this is gonna sound like a really really dumb question, but I've been trying to get linux to install on my computer and I have no idea how to burn it, whenever I try to burn it to a cd it doesn't work
-
what software are you using? Choose "disc from image" or something similar to that when you are burning.

Did you even bother checking google?

burning doesn't work, or trying to install from a burned cd doesn't work?
You may be burning the *.iso as a data file, instead of as an image file

What distribution did you download? And what files did you download, the ISOs yea?
Heh, I remember once, before I knew _anything_ about GNU/Linux or distributions, I downloaded some file from kernel.org and burned it to a disk, and it wouldn't boot :(

The fact that you need help isn't dumb - it's always better to ask questions.
But in the future, maybe you could supply information in your post.
All the questions by the users in this post, below yours, are unessacary.
If you had supplied information regarding your problem, someone may have been able to answer it sufficiently by now.
