Hypothetical Question: I am a Windows user. I have heard about this little insignificant operating system called Linux. I like the idea of Linux because at times Windows bothers me and also because I am deranged. This is of course not to affect the fact that I will not run Linux because I cannot run Microsoft office. I can however run a slightly more mentally disabled suite of applications called OpenOffice, however being a stubborn arsehole, or more likely: a common female, this change will be far to confusing for me to change over with.
Answer: Bollocks over your knackers for a bunch of dingos kidneys. Absolute rubbish from the giant tip at the end of the Universe in which all waste has cluttered to make an infinite black hole.
Why: I can now answer the question which is "How do you run Microsoft Office on Linux in the form of a jpeg image. (http://web.aanet.com.au/kintaro/images/MSOfficeLinux.png)

Bah.
If someone wants me to read a Word document, I tell them to save it as an rtf before they send it to me. That way, it opens in Linux or Windows, it doesn't use a proprietary format, and it can easily be tweaked into whatever the hell I want.
Remember, Word is just as much a Microsoft product as Windows, and both are septic tank fumes.

Of course it is. But opening Word docs in OpenOffice is giving too much credit to Microsoft. The first step is to break free of their programs, and OpenOffice provides a stepping stone for that. But the second step is to break free of their formats.
We pretend that we are using OpenOffice to take Microsoft Word off our computers. But in reality, Microsoft is using its market share and OpenOffice to put Word documents in Linux. That's like an open door for Microsoft x11Word or some similar product.
Besides, embracing open source programs to create documents in a proprietary format is hypocracy.

top marks! i really like your writing style, and while i am in no way interested in running ms word under linux, i think you have done an excellent job of addressing this issue!

OpenOffice totally sucks compared to MS Word. MS Word is way better in my opinion, so I use that instead, without Windows.
-
i use kwrite its very fast

Microsoft Word loads up quicker than OpenOffice as well, when you mention speed.
