Title: Hidden Files
Post by: static on 31 August 2005, 17:53
Ok I found this site while trying to clean as much usless crap from my computer as possiable. I am running XP pro and IE 6.0
I tried following the directions to enter DOS and clean out the hidden files, however I had no luck. First of all I could not find "command prompt only" just "safe mode with command prompt" then SMARTDRV and DELTREE would not work? Any suggestions?

Sure, The Really Hidden Files is a complete myth. It is bullshit propagated by delusional Apple fans in their plot to take over the world.

I prove it is a myth under Windows XP here: http://kintaro.noobify.com/kintarolabs/viewtopic.php?p=465#465

You're absolutely wrong here. Content.IE5 does exist in Windows XP and Windows XP SP1.
It seems to be removed in Windows XP SP2.

In Windows XP SP1, Content.IE5 is clearly unhidden.

Install Linux, problem solved?

This wasn't the issue Content.IE5 is present in all versions of Windows 95+, and it's hidden too, (remember the post (http://www.microsuck.com/forums/showpost.php?p=102116&postcount=26) that got me banned). I don't know about sp 1 but with sp 2 when you delete the Temporary Internet files they vanish leaving only the index.dat files and even though their size remains the same the personal information they contain dissappears and is replaced with a repeating pattern of bytes.

See this thread (http://www.microsuck.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9552&page=1&pp=25) for more details. We really need to remove this article, I've known this is bullshit for sometime now and it's starting to annoy me, this really isn't helping our course.

I would love to remove windows and install Linux, but it's on a company issued laptop so I'm stuck  I can however limit my use of MS, to start I am switching to firefox, and this is my attempt to remove all the excess crap from IE.

Idiot. It is a fucking cache, and its NOT your history, hence why DELETING YOUR HISTORY does not remove what is in it. Removing Tempory Files, on ALL versions of Windows, gets rid of it.

Damn, you're right. Something went wrong translating history and cache to Dutch or something.

Yeah, the webmaster should just give his site to me.

AT LEAST SOMEBODY WOULD MAINTAIN IT.

[EDIT: Ah I see now. $30 and it's Kintaro, eh...]

With an investor and a good business model, 30,000 for a site such as fuckmicrosoft.com isn't too terrible an idea. I am sure that the site gets a ton of hits, enough to warrant selling ads and returning a profit. Keep the forums free though, just have a staff, unpaid, of forum members to uphold the rules, etc. Build a strong anti-ms, or pro "freedom", community with regularly updated front page content, and it would be worth it.

Yes. But that doesn't solve my issue of obtaining $30,000 USD. That kind of money could buy me a child sex slave for life.

The sooner this site starts making money, the sooner Microsoft will sue for trademark violations.

OOh Seems a lot worse than here - here they at least try to keep it covered so an average peep will tell our country's OK.

I thought the Czech highways where funny. I saw cops driving on it.

There was a Mercedes speeding over 140 km/h. The cops did nothing at all.
I guess they are affraid to get fired because they ticketed the mayor's friend or something.

Yeah... but then again, the limit is 130, and ten over is tolerated. We usually drive at 140.
