BOLLOCKS, IBM created FAT and M$ used it for MS DOS.

I'm not even sure it was MS who created FAT, I have a feeling it was part of QDOS.

Edit:
I think this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_Allocation_Table) clears up a lot of things - it's a very interesting read.

Seattle Computer Products made FAT12, and MS made FAT16 based off that.

Who cares? They brought the rights to FAT12 long ago with QDOS. It's theres.

I do for swapping files between XP and Lin.

i still use fat. ive had bad experiances with ntfs. fat is more compatible with different devices and OS's.

:) just kidding i like fat32 more than ntfs so i have 3 partitions as fat32 1 linux
and 1 ntfs :))

It's still the best for removable media, because it has robust, out-of-the-box support in all OSs.  No other FS has that.
