Is this a hoax?

If you end explorer.exe, the desktop is simply gone, the computer won't shut down.

A person who calls killing "deleting" and is capble of doing that to explorer.exe is surely prone to think that no destop = no computer.

Works for me fine, although then again I am running Windows 2000 so if I end explorer I just use Program Manager

Yeah, any idiot should be able to shut it down on anything NT based.

And if you end explorer and everything else, its usually safe to hit the power button anyway.
