Title: Linux stars in MS movie
Post by: sime on 10 October 2005, 12:36
In a stroke of irony, Microsoft's Halo movie will be produced in Wellington by servers running the open-source Linux operating system.

Yeah.

No surprise there.

It's also going to annoy Microsoft that they're going to have to use Xcode to make microsoft office universal binaries, it's based around gcc :D

It seems Linux is doing good in the only place it can.  In the render farm.

I'm sure it will be cut on an AVID box, most likely a Mac.

Why would you edit in AVID on a Mac? As if you wouldn't use Final Cut Pro?

Well, Final Cut Pro is good.  but it isn't quite ready at the point for editing feature films just yet.  I'd say, 3 years.

Right now, AVID is really the only NLE that can edit professional feature films.
