Looking for Linux Processor Temprature monitor
« on: 24 April 2006, 05:34 »
I have recently acquired a PIII processor for my linux box. However, the processor fan controller on the motherboard has broken, and doesn't turn on. It runs well on passive cooling, however, I'd like to know the tempratures. It seems that all the hardware monitors are all GNOME panel applets. I run XFCE, because it runs well on my older hardware. I tried GNOME, but it has unmet dependancies with Debian Testing, and I really don't feel like compiling that much. If any of you know of a hardware monitor that will run as a normal application, that would be appreciated.

gkrellm will show you temps as long as the sensors are accessable ... on my laptop it can only interface with the CPU temp sensor ... you might wanna search freshmeat for more hardware monitors:
