Let's make a list of why Windows sucks
« on: 27 August 2006, 20:07 »
Let's make a list of why Windows sucks harder than a 2$ whore. Please add as much as you can.

For a starter:

* It's proprietary.
* The company Microsoft has some evil business tactics.
* It's unstable, it crashes.
* It prone to viruses.
* It's prone to spyware.
* It's prone to trojans.
* It spies on you, for ex WGA.
* The WGA system doesn't work properly.
* It's expensive.

* use of shitty graphics formats like bmp
* poor support for open graphics formats
* use of shitty video formats like avi
* poor support for open video formats
* use of shitty document formats
* poor support for open document formats
* proprietary media formats
* non-compliance with W3C standards
* make up their own useless shit and pass it off as a standard
* carriage-return AND line-feed at the end of every line
* charges extra cash for useful programs like a word processor and a spreadsheet
* no truly useful programs like awk or sed or grep
* programs can't be piped together, because programs are unmodular
* no support for other filesystems, like HFS+ or ext3
* filesystem can't be partitioned with normal tools
* even when you're doing nothing but playing minesweeper, the disk and the processor run like crazy, doing godknowswhat

I could go on and on

* It sets up an insecure environment for the user.
* It overwrites the MBR no matter what, and doesn't set the bootloader up so other installed OSes can easily be booted.
* Kludgy not-well-thought-out user interface.
  * You have to click the start button to shut it down.. wtf?

Why does a winter audience delay macintosh? The maker tosses macintosh. Beneath female suffers a double scum. How will a rat cube the heavier cricket? Macintosh calls a method. Can macintosh nest opposite the headache? Macintosh ties the wrong fairy. When can macintosh stem the land gang? Female aborts underneath macintosh. Inside macintosh waffles female. Next to macintosh worries a well.

The spike in CPU usage - was that when you moved the mouse?

That brings me on to another mammoth of a problem with windows:
* SHIT MEMORY MANAGEMENT!

also:
* it packs the shittiest of drawing programs ever.
* it packs the shittiest of web-browsers ever.
* it packs the shittiest of themes ever (I've come across alot of Windows users who BUY the WindowsBlinds theme).
* It's god-damn annoying to use.
* lots of shitty updates (if you think the recent Ubuntu fuckup was bad (which it was!), there was a recent Windows 2000 (iirc) update which introduced a bunch of critical-enough security holes)

Fan noise is one thing, and it is to be expected.  But I'm talking about drive seek noise.  The hard drive is working.  Probably writing and erasing graphics to swap space.

no...not when you have 256MB of ram or over, but it does piss me off when i minimize counter strike source or something and it unloads the 400MB or so of textures from the system ram/graphics memory into the HD, sure it gives me back 400MB of working system ram, but as soon as i maximize it back up, it sits there for 15-20sec loading the textures back into memory...

(it is not a not enough memory related problem, its a stupid windows wants to transfer all data from minimized apps from system ram to the HD until they are maximized again problem)

What about the occasional obsession it has with grinding the HD for upwards of an hour or more, for no good reason. XP would do that to me quite often. With Indexing Service disabled, it still did it. With System Restore disabled, it still did it.

Who the fuck knows what it might be.
Go the fuck ~

- If one could visualize the Window$ kernel it would look like a large, bloated piece of swiss cheeze with butter or diarrhea plugging up the holes (whichever you prefer to imagine)
- It's not case sensitive
- NTFS is shit
- I comes pre-installed 99.9 % of the time
- There is no shell worth mentioning
- It's slow, bloated, vaporwear, bullshit and more
- The EULA blows goats
- The installer is shitty
- It does things behind your back (like indexing all your files by default)
- you are the admin by default
- it is more than insecure ... it defines insecurity
- It will eventually fuck up your computer from all the bullshit (there have been cases haven't there ?)
- it lacks innovation
- it is the product of a monopolistic evil empire run by Bill Gate$ (what could be worse than that ... a monopolistic evil empire run by :eek: :eek: Steve Ballmer :eek: :eek: )
- it's not open-source (unless you count the leakage)
- it's overflowing with bullshit
- it not only hogs all your resources but manages to waste them too and does a piss poor job of managing them
- anything is better than it
- it is worse than nothing
- why not make a list of good things about Window$ it would be shorter ... much much shorter
- etc. etc. and so on ... I could probably write all day, but I just don't care to

* It only supports SMB shares. GNOME (nautilus) can connect to at least FTP, SMB, SSH, webdav (and webdav secure) and presumably NFS. KDE (Konqueror) probably supports a similar range, same with OS X. But not windows.

It's just the shittest OS out there plain and simple.
