7. ???
8. Profit!

Sorry, couldn't resist.   :D

Anyway, IRM is much worse than DRM, because it's totally useless. Anyone who would want to protect his documents only has to encrypt  them. I can see DRM benefiting media companies and publishers, but IRM benefits no one but Microsoft, who can force people to use their products.

"There's certainly a lock-in factor," said Matt Rosoff, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft. "Microsoft would love people to use Office and only Office.

Thats complete shit. can they even do that?

oh well, people will still get it because no one has heard of anyone but microsoft
just say know

Im gonna' upgrade..........to openoffice 1.1  :D

Aren't there countries immune to or that don't recognize DRM, China, Iran, Canada  ;)  , etc

could'nt Openoffice incorperate and setup head office in one of these countries?

Maybe if the EU sees the light they will nurture OOo
and embrace opensource like so much of europe is starting to do, make OOo the defacto ofice suite in europe.

There seems to be complete arogence when it comes to the M$ user/employee.

I've been following one such troll by the name of 'the real bit.'

He first claims that he is in the clear majority and we are in the 1% minority.

He then goes on to state "use whats best for your needs."

and/or

"when they (m$ comes out with a feature) we whine."

Classic troll behaviour.

We can take a look at his first comment on

"Use whats best for your needs"

In this case most windows users are in fact win9x with a few NT's thrown in.  Most use office 97.  So are the average joe going to spend thousands of dollars just to use the docs he has at work??

Nope, if anything it WILL lower productivity!

So what about the security of the document.  This is the whole point of IRM isn't it??

to stop people from just reading your docs or delete by a certin time?

Well as long as one can see the document then it can be copied.  If anything it would be more of a pain for the average employee who has suddenly forgot his/her password and are unable to open the document while the wrong people can read it or undelete the document anyways.

as for "when M$ comes out with a feature whe whine."

No we wonder why a convicted and known fellon is allowed to commit the same crime over and over again with little to no real punnishment while end users continue to suffer with a poor useless product.

And I will personaly congratulate M$ when the start to innovate and create USEFULL features and stop stealling from everyone else.

Na,  this M$ feature ain't going anywhere and neather is this user.  But when presented with such facts he/she ignors it and then throws insult to the posts to calm his his own stupidity.

Alas some people ARE truly below average intelligence.

I won't allow ANY M$ viral warez into my network thanks.

OpenOffice and as soon as I have spare time I'm going to contribute to the OpenOffice project, and that's how you develop software Bill.

Anyway guys 'n gals M$ won't be around for too much longer, I think this much is pretty evident.

Anyone that thinks the Third Reich of Micro$hit will last a 1000 years is a fucking idiot.

300 years? Will they even last 3?

True, but they haven't had a monopoly on an entire industry for all 28 of them.  Just the last 5 or 6.
