Has anyone ever watched the MSN 8 Launch video? In the video there was also a MSN8 Commerical with Bill and Monkeyboy *as people call him* dressing up as Butterfly and give away free MSN8 disks. It was funny and shows you how Bill will stop at nothing to get money even if he has to lose his diginty.

MSN would of been great if it didn't use IE and if it wasn't made by MS.

That's kinda like saying "Murder would be great if nobody died from it".

MSN's the best Messenger out there. Why? Because every man and his dog has it and if they don't there's a 98% chance their OS supports it, meaning it's come to the point of almost asking "do you have a phone number?". This means that you can MSN anyone these days, unlike using iChat and other forms of messenger services.

Nope    lots of people in the United States use AIM. iChat is really just an AIM client.

If you want a good MSN client, I recommend Mercury.

You know, Jabber is a pretty neat protocol that is actually open (as opposed to other closed networks like AIM, Yahoo, and MSN). Also, since Apple will support Jabber in the next version of iChat on Tiger, you can expect lots of people using it soon. While you're waiting for all your friends to switch over, just use a multi-protocol client like gaim in the meantime or look at the gateway feature of Jabber.

Using *one* IM network is silly.  Nobody will ever standardize on one.  I have AIM, ICQ, and Y! accounts.  I'm using Windows for the time being, and I use Trillian.  Brilliant piece of software.  Once I get transferred to Linux properly, I'll probably use Gaim.

Yes, gaim and trillian.  When I can build and run gaim on the Mac, then I will be the bomb.

The groups on MSN are nice... even though you have to have a stupid passport account to use them.

Oh, it can be done, but getting all the gtk dependencies is a pain in the ass.  Some of the files in fontconfig have to be rewritten by hand to work on Darwin.  Forget about fink, because that's like 5 releases behind current.  And, oddly, fink doesn't even have all the current uptodate packages to support the version of gaim they do have, so that makes no sense.

Anyway, my iBook is almost as Linux-hot as my Fedora2 box at work.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to stick with Adium... ...which uses libgaim...

Speaking of "old but funny," anybody ever use Riven Movie Snoop (sorry PC fans, Mac only, unless you can get this to run properly) to check out movie #148 on disc 4 of Riven?  THAT, my friend, is TRULY funny.   :D
