Site prototype (Large image inside, not for dialup!)
« on: 28 September 2010, 04:54 »
Do you like this prototype anti-MS front page I made for the first anti-MS site I visited? I made it since last December in XHTML 1.

I shifted towards PHP, but I have a plethora of problems since it uses MySQL. I'm sure that can be covered in another section of the forums. (Please tell me if I am wrong.)

So, do you like it?
Excuse me if you see something familiar.

EDIT: I fixed the PHP problems and I slammed another screenshot in my next post.

There is no real organization to it. Pictures are scattered randomly, text is positioned weird and not coherently. The red-on-black is also hard on the eyes, as is the blue-on-black. Not trying to be a jerk, just honest.

I agree, it looks like it's been made by a kid.

I find it even harder to read the blue links over the grey background.
This is not a Windows help forum, however please do feel free to sign up and agree or disagree with our views on Microsoft.

Oh and FUCKMicrosoft! :fu:

The nav bar is really dull, and adding a search bar would make it look strange.

On top of that, I believe that I have one too many focal points, or none at all.

I'm sure the 23rd page of my HTML book will help me, since there's no good design.

I'll come up with another design that's not equal to that first one.

EDIT: Here it is!

Better, but text placement and alignment is still odd, random picture placement is also still weird.

Better, but text placement and alignment is still odd, random picture placement is also still weird.

That's just the home page. The content you are referring to (The old Microsuck pic and the text next to it) is in my MySQL database. The same page I show includes two .inc files, one with the content that makes up the top of the page, and the content that makes up the bottom (include() is an eponymous PHP function). You might not believe me, but I feel that I can't just do what's below.

Code: [Select]
<?php
while ($reactosguy_wants_to == "show_image") {
bribe_moderator(all_mods,pic,"http://msuck.net/images/stupid.png");
}
?>

In other words, I feel it's irresponsible to just have the conversation of "Do you like this? No. Do you like this? Better, but no. Do you really like this? Even better, but no."

So, the random image placement is a part of the content, which is in a table in a database.

The colours are pretty much off.

You need to match them. You can use these websites:
http://www.degraeve.com/color-palette/ - Create a colour palette based on an image
http://colorschemedesigner.com/ - Further use your colour palette to create contrasting colours that match
