ok, now that we have been bitching about tcpa for a bit, check this out, along with the database filesystem, microsoft is behind, who need tcpa when we have this

www.immunix.org

check out the cyptomark, umm, software tcpa, now ifonly microsoft could do this, they wouldn't need that damned fritz chip, then agian, its probably the riaa and the mpaa behind the fritz chip, and not microsoft.

oh M$ is definitely in on the fritz chip......why wouldnt they be? Implementing it would be the ultimate coup de gras for M$, the MPAA, the  RIAA and all the other major corporations......but mainly for microsoft.

Plus M$'s market stranglehold puts them in the best position to peddle the shit.

TCPA was started by five companies; M$ wasn't the first on to get onto it (go fig, right?), intel started it.  but M$ is definately spearheading the software package for it -- hence "palladium".  IBM and AMD will produce the chipsets and later the CPU's for it; i can't remember who the fifth is.

MPAA and RIAA are buying congress members to make the sale or transfer of any non-tcpa complient machine ilegal. If they succeed, it will be illegal to sell or give away you current computer, mp3 player, cd player, dvd player/recorder, or anything else that has the potential to view any copyrightable digital content.  PDA's, webphones, laptops, all become illegal to buy, sell, or even traffick.  D-SC Sen. Fritz Hollings is the main one.  He has recieved $278,000+ from TV/Music/Movies groups.

i didnt understand this guys.

"The point is this: once people realise that even GPL'led software can be hijacked for commercial purposes, idealistic young programmers will be much less motivated to write free software. "

Does this mean that if someone doesnt have TCPA certificate the software that you wrote wont be workable in his PC?
And how can it be hijacked? I dont get it.
Unless if by hijacking he means, that the software wont work on a PC that doesnt have a TCPA certificate. In which case you have to pay for it and M$ basicaly owns it.
