Yet another photoshop question
« on: 3 May 2003, 05:43 »
Some months ago I stopped being able to save images as gifs. It hasn't bothered me much because I can still save them as jpgs. In fact Photoshop seems unable to support gifs at all because it won't even open gifs anymore. Now that I've started fixing up my site I want to add a new "skin", but in order to do that the filenames have to be identical so I can overwrite images instead of going through and replacing them 1 by 1. I have no idea what I did to it. Anyone know how to fix this? (I can't just reinstall it because I've misplaced the disk for the time being)

GO into Computer and search for photoshop or maybe even adobe.  Delete anything that isn't in your Adobe/Photoshop folder in your applications folder.  This should delete all your prefs and everything, you may want to write their locations down because it might require u to type in a serial number again and that is on the disc/case which you say you have misplaced.  I have never had this problem, this is just what I would do first, before resintalling it.

you probably deleted the gif plugin. well, that is all i can think of, so im sticking with that
/Applications/Photoshop 7/Plug-Ins/Adobe Photoshop Only/File Formats/ and there should be a "CompuServe GIF" iin there.

Thank you ecsyle, I think this may also explain why some of my filters have disappeared. I'm thinking I moved the program to where it can't read the plug-ins or something. I think I can figure it out now.

If I wanted Yellow Dog I'd just get a cheap PC and put Red Hat on it and not buy an eXpenSivE Mac. Macs are for OSX and their Aqua-ness.

Hheheh... I like my Mac's Aquaness, and I have a PC running RedHat too. On the PC I have openOffice.org, and GIMP on both the windoze side and Linux side. I like it on there cuz at least they are consistent with their respective interfaces, on the Mac, X11 is bulky and inelegant when run in combination with OSX. Thus it makes it very hard to "get into" any X11 app.

Someone should release a free QT-Aqua toolkit, that allowes easy porting.
