Yeah...you have to apply root permissions in order to do any kind of system updates. If you are logged in as a normal user, you go to the YAST menu, enter in your password, and you are good to go. Anytime you are in YAST, and you apply updates to your system (as root....you can't update as a normal user), it effects all users on the system. IE, Root = GOD, whereas USER1 = Peter, USER2 = Paul, USER3 = Mary, USER4 = Joseph, etc., etc. You don't need to apply the updates to every user. When you are root....see below...
Root is God...and he can change the bible. Peter, Paul, Mary and Joseph, can't. They just have to abide by it. unless God tells them they can change it.
The only way USER1, in this case, Peter, can apply system updates with no password is if you modify the sudoers file. You can make a specififc user on your system immune to root restrictions if you modify this file (as root.) Do a man on sudo or visudo if you wish to implement this. Either that, or ask some questions here.
