I have yet to get a game to work in WINE. I have gotten all the installers to come up, but all my games need directX (i need to get wineX) . What games have you gotten to work with wine?

i've got xbill (windows version) to work with wine, and i suspect that minesweeper, reversi and solitaire will work too, but then you get all those with red hat anyway!

I think that you need the Klingon to English translator.

what about Half-Life/Counter-Strike? <-- that's like one of the major reasons i've been clutching on to wintendo for as long as i have.

i had heard somewhere that vALVEhas been in the process of porting HL (client) to linux for some time. that, supposedly, came straight from vALVE. it was probably a year ago when i first discovered it. a year later and still nothing. although HL/CS is still thee most popular multiplayer FPS there is, by far, there's other games that are starting to look attractive to me, so even if they do a port it may be too late anyway. HL runs on a modified Q2 (or is it the Q1) engine - i forget now. there's better engines out now, including Q3 and unreal, whatever engine they use.

give me 1 wish? ok, i wish they'd change engines to the Q3 one and do a linux port. there's little doubt in my mind that HL could continue as king of the hill for another 3 years if these changes were made, primarily the engine.
