You can do an FTP install for free over the internet, but I wouldn't be astute doing this, so I don't expect a "noob" to try it.  :D

I really like Mandrake, especially 9.1, I think it will serve our new comrade well.

they (Mandrake) have done a good job of turning most of the system configuration into GUI, much like yast, and Mdk 9.1 uses the RieserFS, exactly like SuSE, and Mandrake Uses LILO, might not mean much to a "noob", but if he ever wants to it will be easy to incorperate other Distros into the Boot Loader.

I don't understand the Syntax for Grub, I still can't get RedHat 8 or above to boot from the SuSE splash screen, 7.3 worked for some reason though??

Any way, I think MDK is a close second, dare I say equal to SuSE Linux. I've just become comfortable with SuSE, and I fear change.........  :D

Oh no, you see the system is installed from the server, you never download the iso, you use SuSE.com as the CD

look right f you use mandrake 9.1 you can pretty easily dual boot with with windows and slowly as you learn the linux apps and alternatives then you can fully migrate to mandrake suse is good but i recomend you use mandrake first when your good move to suse or red hat.
linux is wayyyyy cool
windows plain sucks
