well, ive been looking on ebay and pricewatch. linux supports fiber channel right?/*looked up a few controllers, does anybody have personal experiance with this stuff?*/ and how does one "wire" fiber channel drives together? and is it worth it?

fiberchannel is for servers dude just use scsi if you are into performance hardware.

Well I would recomend you start with a CAT5 Ethernet switched LAN.  Just search on google and buy a patch cable tester and a few other tools and construct your LAN with a cheap 100MB Ethernet swithing HUB.

You will learn tonnes.

yeah, i was going to say, i already have a handle on nfs. so about the 127 devices, i know the controller is one, but how does one connect the drives, anybody have any info on that?
