Anyone have either of these machines and want to comment on their likes and dislikes? I'm thinking of buying one of these within the next few weeks.

Apple just speed bumped their current iMac line, so it might be kind of hard to get a comparison just yet.

the eMac also has a lovely 17" flat CRT. it gets higher rez than the iMac's 15" LCD.

the eMac also is available at unbeatable prices. however, the iMac is just unbeatable. it's freakin' awesome

no, but it's a lovely display nonetheless, and for $799 you get 1280x960 rez and Radeon 7500 graphics. it's a sweet deal.

For $999, bump it up to a GHz eMac with a combo drive and a 60GB drive, but only a shitty 128MB

for $1299 you've got a GHz eMac with an 80GB drive, a DVD burner, and 1/4GB of RAM

for $1700, you're gonna get a GB of RAM, an 80GB drive, AirPort Extreme with a GHz processor

As freakin' nice as that LCD is, it's hard, honestly to justify spending that much more for an iMac when the eMac is so tempting!

Also, don't forget you can get an honest-to-god G4 tower starting at $1299 with a Radeon 9000, 256MB of RAM, an 80GB HD, DVDROM/CDRW combo drive. the RAM is DDR333, and you can have up to 2GB, it's got PCI slots, room for four HDs, and two optical drives. that CANNOT BE BEAT! oh, and it comes with a DVI-to-VGA adaptor so you can use any dirt cheap screen on it, as well as upgrade to a GIANT APPLE LCD SCREEN later!

THAT CANNOT BE BEAT
Go the fuck ~

A 1GHz eMac is slightly faster than a 1GHz iMac, according to MacAddict. the iMac simply has more style, though. I use a 17" 1GHz iMac, and it's a beautiful machine that I highly recommend.
Windows: 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor written by a 2 bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition.
