There is absolutley nothing wrong with hunting deer. I think that it is nessicary to hunt deer every year to help control the deer population. Why does the deer population need to be controlled? Simple, if it isn't controlled the deer become a huge menace.
They destroy crops, they knock over trash cans, occasionally they attack small pets like dogs and cats, in some rare cases they will attack humans(mostly likely when they are lost and scared), they get lost and find their way into a city and when they do they become scared, confused and unorientated...so unorientated that they will actually run head first into houses, fences, parked cars, etc. Not only that, but when they find their way into a big city they become a huge risk to traffic as well because they are stupid. They run out right in front of traffic no matter how busy the street, highway, freeway is.
More deer even make the roads outside of a city/town more dangerous because of their stupidity.
This stuff is a fact. For a few years the Government of the state I live in(Indiana) restricted hunters from killing anymore than 1 doe per year and what happened? Well the doe population went up bigtime and because of that...you guessed it...the deer related car crash statistics went up big time in those 2 years. Alot of those increased crashes resulted in injuries and fatalities for the people involved in the crashes. Even if you hit a deer and don't sustain any major injuries there is still the burden of your car being damaged. Needless to say, the government of Indiana realized how big of a mistake the restriction was so they raised the restricition to 5 doe for 2 years(seasons) to get rid of some of that extra doe population and then they lowered it back down to normal(3 doe).
Interestingly enough, they never tampered with the buck restricitions.
