Free hosting with support for cgi-bin?

to give a copy of the database just zip or tar the database folder (probably /usr/local/mysql/var/phpbb2) and give me a link where to download it.

i could just give you a space on my forum as well though if you wanted. my place sometimes goes down in the early mornings when d2g.com sort of cuts off occassionaly. they'll go down and in that time nobody can connect to my website or forum. i run an ikonbaord myself, i like how many more options it has over phpBB
you can see my forum at http://shawnserver.d2g.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi
you have to register but it doesn't need confirmation or anything (i can't seem to fix that for some reason lol)

On a side note to backup/transfer a database you would usually the "mysqldump" system command if you are using mysql or "pg_dump" if using PostgreSQL. An example would be:

$ mysqldump mydatabase > mydatabase.sql

Transfer the mydatabase.sql file to the new system and type:

$ mysql newdatabase < mydatabase.sql

See "man mysqldump" or "man pg_dump" depending on the database you use. You can also set it up to transfer direct database to database over the network but Calum would unlikely have that level of authority on the server. The dump commands should work with no problem though (assiming he has shell access).
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...

!!!!! sorry! i didn't see your reply till just now!    :eek:
Do you still want a copy? also, are there any security issues relating to this?

on a side note, i was looking around for a good php webhost that i have the facility to pay for (using GBP) and i gound this: http://freeola.net/ now i didn't get as far as what their deals are because quite frankly their site sucks! how do they get any customers at all? look at that front page! i think i'll go with http://www.seiretto.com/ if they turn out to be okay... edit - no they don't allow bulk mailing, even if it's opt in (which it most certainly is!) so no go which is a shame as their prices are great.

so. Netcadia are by current choice. as far as i can see they do domain name registration for "free" if you buy one of their hosting deals. does this sound right? i can't seem to confirm or deny it from their site.
Does this look okay? sorry, it's just i've got into the habit of asking people's advice here since people often give good advice here.
