We all have recieved certificates from Microsoft stating that we are of superior skill in dealing with software engineering/network engineering. We hold MCSE certificates and MCNE certificates and after our analysis, Linux is better.
We know both sides of the argument, because we all have earned a certificate from Redhat saying that we are superior in engineering Redhat Linux based networks and administering Redhat Linux systems.
In the end we choose Linux, because in our analysis Linux comes out to be a much better contender--more secure, reliable, easier to manage, and much more flexible. We all endorse and support Linux and would recommend it to all businesses. With Linux vendors quickly catching up to the ease of use of Microsoft Windows, we increasingly recommend Linux at home/in the office. Linux vendors Redhat, Mandrake, and SuSE have all created very professional operating systems that are easy to use, reliable, and attractive.
It seems more to us that Microsoft is on top of the OS market because of their superior marketing intellect. Microsoft's business decisions have, in the long run, guaranteed Microsoft safe passage through the OS and IT market for years. It is evident now that consumers are looking toward lower price and increased functionality, and they are finding it in Linux/Linux-based operating systems.
Recently, the city of Munich, Germany contributed a milestone to the Linux and Open Source Movements, respectively. They decided to switch 14,000 computers from Microsoft Windows to a Linux operating system, establishing currently the largest public Linux switch to date. More and more stories leading to Linux adoption have been surfacing. We believe Linux is ready to go mainstream, and people are willing to take it there.
