South Korea in copyright trouble with US
« on: 9 January 2004, 08:16 »
quote:
The Bush administration on Thursday accused South of failing to halt the piracy of American movies and music that it said was costing U.S. companies millions of dollars in lost revenue.

This pisses me off I must say. Why does Bush have to do with the RIAA and MPAA corporations?
OH, nevermind, I forgot. Corporations & special interest is Bush's interest.

quote:
The administration announced that South Korea was being added to a priority list of countries that are subject to special monitoring and consultations aimed at making sure the foreign government acts to address the copyright piracy issues that have been uncovered.

Hmm. Sounds like the beginning of an Axis of Copyright Infringers. Basically a reason for Dick and Ronny to spy on another country, which is supposed to be our friend.

quote:
If South Korea fails to comply the United States would have the ability to bring a case before the World Trade Organization. If the WTO ruled in America's favor, the Bush administration would have the power to impose economic sanctions on South Korea equal to the lost revenue from the copyright piracy.

I can see it already. Cyber inspectors will be sent to South Korea to spy on computer users. Bush administration not satisfied with results and declares war. lol.
