LOL. I've been hearing a lot about Mepis, how it's really user friendly. Maybe you should give that a try :)

I was wondering if Fedora was as easy as Mepis?...
At least is Fedora developped for Home use?

Yes... it's all up to you, but personally, if I was a Linux newbie, I'd go for Mepis, SuSE or Mandrake.

If you want fast, friendly and easy, then why the hell are you thinking aout linux?
download and install BeOS, and try it for a month.

if you want some action, you can download my quake II package on BeShare, or, my KISS Bittorrent package.

I never tried SuSE, but I heard great things about it (how easy to use it is, compatibility, etc.)

I did run Mandrakelinux for a year, until I switched to Slackware because of my desire to configure everything myself. I liked Mandrake, it's very easy.

To answer the question...BeOS uses its own desktop.  It's pretty good, from what tiny bit I've done.  (MrX's connection is too slow for vnc :p)

Pretty much all Linux distrobutions include both KDE and Gnome.  Ubtuntu only includes Gnome by default though...and starting with v2.8, I declare Gnome better than KDE.

Is BeOS mainly graphical or text based?

Does it  load up in text mode than optionally load X and a desktop like Linux?

Or is it like NT where you can only load it in graphics mode?

 1. Mainly graphical. More like the text based stuff is all hidden away, like in Mac OS X.

2. Not that I know of. And BeOS doesn't have X. It has it's own graphics stuff that is superior to X in speed and load balancing.

3. I believe so.
