Any cards based on the bt848 chipset generally work flawlessly in 'alternative' operating systems, and can be obtained for pennies off of eBay. The vanilla Hauppauge WinTV cards would probably be something to look into. I used a WinTV card regularly with BeOS and Linux. I have no idea what the name of the tuner software was though in Linux; it was whatever came with Mandrake five years ago.
Yeah, and by the time the auction ends, it's hit $50 that I don't have, and I've already been burned by non-shippers.
No thanks on eBay unless I know the seller.
That being said, what about LinTV or whatever it's called (V4L I think)?
Is that compatible at all, if not, are there modules available to help transition it?
It's a shared box, and that's really the only thing precluding me from totally switching it to Slackware.
