Why write native apps if you can just emulate? Why emulate when you can run natively? I'd rather just use a mac.

Nope, I will not switch back, at least not on my home PC. Actually I still have WXP as a secondary OS - which used to be the only OS on this computer. I occasionally play games and nearly all of my hard disk space is formatted into NTFS. There's just too much data to convert them to something else without a lot of work.

I'm planning not to ever "upgrade" to Hasta la Vista or even get any PC that comes with Windows. I'll probably have problems, Linux isn't perfect. But if I can get things done as well as or at least almost as well as with Windows, I'm happy. Microsoft's business methods sicken me and I don't want to support them in any way. Call me a rebel, idealist, freak, whatever. To some point, I might agree. ;)

Moreover, Linux and other free software is inevitably going to get better because the community only cares about improving the software. I can't say I think the same about Windows. MS only cares about money so they don't have to make it any better as long as the masses still buy it because there are new cool graphical effects that utilize better (ie. spend all) the processing power of the brand new PC they bought.

I think using Linux eventually pays off. Hell, it already does. Now that I have learned to set everything up properly, it's much more pleasant to use. I feel I'm in control for once.

Setup a network for me where I can login from any machine as my user, have access to the Adobe Creative Suite, a shared exchange like outlook system, easy to maintain network config, iTunes, access to several shared printers, and maintain it at the same cost as our current Windows network and I will say that I won't go back to M$ :)

i used to use windows 2003 on my servers, i ended un banging my head against wall and knocking myself unconcios once due to windows 2003 i had these problems:

on my first mail server install i forgot to make a postmaster account, so 1 bad mail made a never ending loop of mails and errors attempting to goto postmaster:

error [email protected] does not exist, sending error to [email protected] (this kept looping till it made 60gig of bad mail and i had to re install

on my second attempt at setting up the mail server i did somthing very stupid, i actually turned on logging under a windows server, people attempted to spam through the server so the error log got to 10gig, i had to reinstall again because the file was too big to delete

then i made a debian 3.1 mail server with postfix, i turned on logging, no problems, no problems at all

and about converting back:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111oneoneoneoneone

these were just problems i had with mail server, sometime i will make a page with all the crap in windows server 2003

What the fuck, eh?  This is in fact an anti-Microsoft forum.  If you think Windows is good enough, then why bother to post here?

If you're playing devil's advocate, then say so.

(I'm talking to you, xsyle!)

I am playing devils advocate. None of these new members have any clue who I am or my posting history here, so I wanted to play around. However, I did have a reason. No one posts for shit. "Window$ sucks lol" is the extent of it. That is really going to make me stop using it, yeah. I just want people to actually debate and put some effort into their posts. If that isn't going to happen then fuck it, back to Voidmains forums I will go (I haven't posted there in a while, but I do have some questions...)

I agree, I don't see any point in stupid "Micro$haft Winbloze $uCk$ DonKy Cock$" posts - it really doesn't help our cause. I really feel that this forum has gone down hill recently because these kinds of posts have become more common in the last month or so.
